mechanical arm by X4nd5r mechanical arm by X4nd5r
okay, true, it doesn't look like much in this shot. But I did work long and hard on it. and its finished. and.....

Well, you get the idea. The problem for much of what I do is that its not readily visible... for example, here, setting up the arm; that is, just rigging it. This is an expanding robotic arm. I'm probably going to animate it in a couple of days, too. But texturing it, lighting it, and putting it in a scene... that's a little farther away (especially cause maya live has been throwing fits for some reason....). I dunno, would something of this nature fit more into coding? There are people who just rig things for a living, supposedly. Anyways....

Robotic arm, modeled and rigged in maya. Expands. And flips over backwards. stuff like that....

This looks quite good: it has a combination of realistic joints while still maintaining a "cool, robots!" feel to it, without feeling like it's a mundane "real-world industrial robot".

heh. Thanks. but I'm halfway convinced that there actually are parts out there that do actually look like that.
